At Cafe Lahu, we believe in a different way of creating impact, one that grows from the ground up, in harmony with nature and rooted in community.
Today, we are excited to announce that applications for the 2026 volunteering program are now open.
This is not just a volunteering experience. It is an opportunity to become part of a long-term transformation project alongside the Lahu community of Kanglaung, in northern Thailand, a community facing challenges such as poverty, lack of opportunities for youth, deforestation and limited access to infrastructure.
A project with purpose
Cafe Lahu was born from a simple but powerful vision: to support local communities through sustainable development, cultural preservation and environmental regeneration. This is a long journey and volunteers are an essential part of it.
What does the volunteering experience look like?
The Cafe Lahu volunteering program is designed as a community learning and cultural exchange experience.
As a volunteer, you will not just “help” , you will learn, share and connect.
You can contribute in different areas:
Supporting English practice and creative learning activities with children
Participating in environmental education and sustainability workshops
Contributing to community-based tourism initiatives
Helping document and promote Lahu culture
Learning about and supporting sustainable farming

You will also live with a Lahu host family, sharing daily life and building meaningful human connections.
When can you join?
The ideal time for students to participate is during the summer months:
July to September. We offer the following 2-week group options:
G1: July 5 – July 18
G2: July 19 – August 1
G3: August 2 – August 15
G4: August 16 – August 29
G5: August 30 – September 12
