This week marks an important milestone for the Cafe LAHU project, as we welcomed university students from NHL Stenden to Kanglaung. Through cultural exchange, shared learning and community engagement, this collaboration represents a concrete step toward long-term, community-led sustainability.

Today marks another very important moment of the Cafe LAHU project
After many days of preparation, coordination, nerves and excitement, we were very happy to welcome 20 university students from the Netherlands (NHL Stenden) to Kanglaung village.
Over the next four days, the students will live alongside the Lahu community, sharing daily life, learning from each other and gaining a deeper understanding of a culture that seeks to preserve its identity while opening itself to the world in a respectful and sustainable way.
This visit represents much more than a short stay. It is an opportunity for cultural exchange, mutual learning and the building of bridges between academic knowledge and community-based realities. For the Cafe LAHU community, it is also a meaningful step forward in our journey toward sustainable development, education and responsible tourism.
We would like to sincerely thank NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, specially Alexis Ouillet and Maria Mancheño, for trusting Cafe LAHU and for making this collaboration possible. We are confident that this experience will be enriching for the students, the university and the community alike.
